The Wonder Drug

Pharmacological science is amazing and has changed the length and comfort in our lives immensely. And at the same time has led us as a society to look for and yearn for a pill to cure everything.

I am not a doctor, nor a scientist, and yet, I have something you can do that is like a magic pill – a wonder drug if you will – but isn’t a pill, shot or treatment at all. It has no ill side effects, doesn’t cost anything, or require an insurance card to receive it.

This wonder drug can:

  • Lower your A1c and blood pressure

  • Relieve some aches and pains

  • Help you sleep better

Yes, one “drug” has been proven to have all these effects. But that isn’t all…

This wonder drug boosts:

  • Life satisfaction

  • Joy, optimism, pleasure and enthusiasm

So it improves both our physical and mental health?

It does.

It has also been shown to contribute to increased performance, self-improvement, and therefore career advancement.

It doesn’t cure cancer but think about how much money is spent on medications to treat everything listed above.

That number is massive.

But remember, this wonder drug is free and available to everyone.

This isn’t a trick, and it isn’t a riddle.

The wonder drug is gratitude.

Gratitude has been repeatedly shown to have all the positive impacts listed above.

Knowing that gratitude is helpful, but not enough. You can know that penicillin will curb infections, but until you take the medication, it won’t make a difference.

Gratitude only has the wonderous effects described above when we create a gratitude practice – to practice gratitude every day.

Consider it like a daily multivitamin with even more curative power!

I know this may be read like one of those commercials for a drug you’ve never heard of curing a condition you don’t have. I’ll admit I’m as sold on this wonder drug as those companies selling their drugs are.

The difference is that everyone can benefit from this wonder drug.

You can start benefiting from the wonder drug of gratitude instantly, and I hope you do. If you want help building your gratitude practice, you can join our Remarkable Gratitude Challenge beginning November 17, and invite a guest to join you too.
