How Does Your Organization or Team Celebrate? (12/16/2025)

In partnership with

Happy Tuesday!

I hope you are enjoying your December – it’s hard to believe we are halfway through it already.

The calendar is on my mind as I write this, and the articles that follow will show it. The main article about celebrating is a follow-up to last week’s article (you can read that one here).

This is a wonderful and strange time of year – big holidays and the close of the year, which leads many to spend a bit more time looking forward. That is a useful exercise but isn’t really calendar dependent.

My Take this week pulls all of the uniqueness of the last 15 days of the month together, and gives you some food for thought and hopefully a spur to action.

If you enjoy this issue – pass it on to someone or use the link below to encourage them to subscribe.

Make it a great Tuesday and remember …

You are Remarkable!

Make These Two Weeks Matter

Two more weeks until the New Year arrives. What can you do to make these weeks count?

For the rest of the year, most people find themselves in one of two spots:

  • On vacation, or at least using up PTO

  • Working most or all the remaining days

Whichever group you are in, I urge you to be “all in.”

If you are off work, be present with those around you. Make memories, laugh, and rest. And if you are using your PTO, but don’t have a lot of plans, beyond getting rested and refreshed, find a way to give or focus on others. Everyone wins if you do.

And if you are working, be working! Remember that many in your boat will coast, but if you stay focused, you can achieve more in these few days than you usually do in a month. That’s why I call the week between Christmas and New Year’s the Golden Week. In short, use this time with less interruptions to speed up when others slow down.

Regardless of whether you are in the working or not working mode for the next two weeks, there are four things I urge you to do to truly help you make the next two weeks matter.

  • Fill your bucket. Fill your bucket with family and friends, rest and relaxation – hopefully all four. Let go of the hustle and hangovers, and focus on finding laughter and joy during the next two weeks.

  • Look back. Spend some time (whether at home or at work) reflecting your wins, losses and lessons from the year.

  • Thank them. From that, reflection will help you see people that had made a difference for you this year. Take the time to thank them! A call or a card, or even an email or text will change your December and theirs too.

  • Look ahead. The calendar says a new year is coming, which does make this a useful time to spend thinking about your goals. My experience is that more people talk about this than do it. These two weeks will matter for your future if you do it.

I hope you take my advice – and if you do, you will have a more pleasant and powerful last two weeks of the year.

How Does Your Organization or Team Celebrate?

It’s a time of year when you might be doing some celebrating in your organization. And whether you are celebrating now or not, chances are you know you need to celebrate some things. If you aren’t clear about what to celebrate, check out this article. But I will presume you know the value of celebrations. But when thinking about it organizationally, how your organization or team celebrates is perhaps as important as that you celebrate at all.
