Six Leadership Questions for 2026 (01/06/2026)

Happy Tuesday!
I’ve had mixed feelings about the early part of the New Year forever and have also been fascinated by how others treat these days. I’m talking a bit about that below – I hope you find my thoughts helpful.
I’m also sharing 6 questions I believe all leaders must ask this year – and sharing why organizations must help them find answers. When we ask and answer these questions, we will set ourselves and our organizations up for more success in 2026.
If you have been out on PTO for a couple of weeks, you might have missed this. Here’s your last chance, before we put this in the vault. 😊
I re-imagined an exercise I created for our recent Remarkable Gratitude Challenge as an evergreen exercise for teams or groups of any kind. If you would like a flexible framework for a team, project or group event, this Gratitude Exercise might be just the ticket! Here’s the link to access with our compliments.
Make it a great week. Please forward this with others who would benefit.
You are Remarkable!
Kevin 😊

Past/Present/Future
The time between the middle of December and the middle of January is an interesting time. Many people spend time reflecting on the past and projecting into the future during this time.
I’m a big fan of both.
Reflecting on both what has worked and what hasn’t is fodder for powerful learning.
Looking to the future and charting a course provides direction and can create meaning.
And yet there are two possible problems with all this thinking this time of year.
The calendar is artificial. The valuable thinking work that provides the foundation for action can happen at any time. The calendar and a “new year” are an artificial construct.
The present matters. While the past and future are important, too much time spent in either place keeps us from living, thinking, and behaving in the present. The past and future provide context, but results and living only happen in the present. I think this time of year people are susceptible to too much thinking and not enough living and doing.
Let me say it again – the present matters. It’s time to live in and with what is in front of you.
Listen closely.
Respond wisely.
Do those things and you will live more fully.
